Okay, we have launched another year.  As with past years, my on-going resolution is that I am going to get fit and lose weight this year.  I am sure I am not alone in this mindset.

For those of you who have been following my blog since I stated the Metabolism Miracle program on November 9^th, 2009 here is an update.

December is a month of celebration for me.  My two daughters and four of my five grandchildren have birthdays in December.  Not to mention Christmas dinner parties, New Year’s Eve and all the epicurean delights along the way.

I usually come out of the holidays gaining at least 10 pounds.  However, this year I tried to stay on my Metabolism Miracle eating program as closely as possible, and today weighed in only gaining 3 pounds.  I was relieved to say the least.  So even with the stress, and bad food choices, I am still 12 pounds less than I was on November 9^th.

As a result of diverting from the program more than once or twice, I have chosen to start from day one, thus repeating Step One.  I am excited about the continued progress and look forward to reaching my goal weight.

I can honestly say that while on the Metabolism Miracle program I do not feel deprived or hungry in the least.  I do have the following suggestions for anyone starting this or any other weight loss program:

• Check with your doctor first.  Get your lab work done so you will have a starting point for all of your criteria. It is truly an encouragement to see the improvement from one time to another.
• Make sure your kitchen and food pantry are totally ready for your success.  If you cannot resist opening a package of cookies or other foods not allowed on your program….get rid of them.  Don’t set yourself up to fail before you even begin.
• On a similar note, make a list of foods that you can have.  Stock your cupboards and refrigerator with these items.  That way you will not be tempted to eat things that will defeat your purpose.
• The Metabolism Miracle has some great recipes.  One is for delectable muffins.  I look forward at the end of the day to sitting down with a cup of coffee and a chocolate brownie muffin.  Hard to believe this is an allowed food.
• Plan ahead.  If you have not planned out your day’s menus you could possibly find yourself resorting to eating more than you are allowed, or something that you should not be eating at all.
• Remember eating healthy is not any more difficult than eating poorly and look at all you have to gain (really lose!) from making the right choices.
• It helps to have a “buddy” you can check in with and share your progress.  I have a friend who has just started the same program I am doing and we will continue to encourage each other along the way. It definitely helps to be accountable to someone else.

Be sure to fit exercising into your day.  I know how you feel.  I used to think, “And just when am I supposed to do that?”  I am using the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds program and it takes thirty minutes to walk two miles and do the stretchy bands for toning.  This includes your stretching, beginning and ending.  Just think about it.  Isn’t your health worth 30 minutes?  You will feel so much better.

If you have a day, or two, that you stray from the  weight loss program you are on, the most important thing to remember is …. DO NOT GIVE UP!!  Start right back on the program.  The longer you wait to do this the harder it will be to get back to basics.

My “Aha” moment was in thinking that I needed to lose weight and get healthy.  I want to be around to enjoy my grandchildren, watch them grow and have families of their own, and most definitely enjoy my daughters and their spouses.  I do not want to be a burden in my “golden” years.  It all boils down to my making the right choices.

Remember … nothing tastes as good as thin!!

This is an extremely busy time of the year for everyone. It seems every December I feel I should have started the previous January so that I will have everything done on time! Of course that sounds utterly ridiculous. But in fact when you are like me and enjoy showing your love and appreciation for others in special homemade gifts at least starting planning for the projects you want to complete and setting up a schedule for completetion makes perfect sense.

The month of December is a month that is full of joy and activity for me. I am not only getting Christmas cards out in the mail to keep in touch with special people that have touched my life, but also celebrating six birthdays. Both of my daughter’s were born in December, and four of my five grandchildren have birthdays in December. One really needs to stay focused with this type of schedule.

I was just thinking how sometimes we get so caught up in all we have to do that we miss the sheer joy of the season. Every year I have a dear friend that opens her home for an annual Christmas dinner get together for three of her friends. We may go the entire year without seeing each other, but that friendship is still there waiting to be rekindled at Christmas time. That is truly when you know you have a good friend. You just pick up where you left off and it seems like no time at all has elapsed since you were last together. I am very thankful for these friends.

With technology as it is, we communicate more regularly by emails. Telephone calls are not even as frequent as they used to be. Think back to many years ago when dropping by a friend’s home to check on them and share a cup of coffee or tea and discuss what was going on in your life used to be the thing to do. Now we get on the computer and shoot an email. I have a very wise friend who doesn’t like communicating via an email. He told me once, “I don’t really know how Judy is feeling by reading an email. I can’t sense the emotion.” How very true. As it has been said, we get so caught up with high tech activities we fail to use the high touch things we used to do.

This plays a big part with those who are involved with internet marketing. People are more apt to hit the “delete” key when you are trying to share an opportunity, than if you gave them a call and personally told them about the opportunity you feel might be helpful to them. That is not to say that both methods can not be use together.

We are so busy we forget to look around at the beauty and blessings we have in our lives. I hope that you will take a deep breath and do just that …take a deep breath and look at all you you have in your life. With the economy the way it is, we all have suffered losses of one kind or another. But if we look around we will discover we really have a lot to be thankful for.

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a New Year that will allow us to open our eyes and hearts to what is going on around us. We are truly blessed!

2009 is coming to an end.  How many of us have met our weight loss resolutions?  Why did you not lose weight in 2009? It is so very hard.  I want to encourage you that you still have 52 more days to still chisel away at those pounds!  Do not give up! Just keep your goal in sight.

I know that I am not about to give up.  I might not have lost all the weight I had set forth to lose, but at least I have not gained.  To me that is a plus.  Even if you finish out the year having lost only 10 or so pounds, you have done well. Congratulations!  It is a beginning for more weight loss in 2010.

I have been on a diet since I was 13 years old.  I have lost myself time and time again.  I did have one short spell in my life for about three or four years where I had lost about 70 pounds and had kept it off.

Alas, then came divorce, I became a single mom, had a hysterectomy and quit smoking.  What was I ever thinking?  Bit by bit those pounds crept back on. I have tried the same diets I have gone on in the past and lost weight.  The only difference is they are not working any more.

I look at people around me on the same diet I am doing  and they are losing and I am not losing an ounce.  Why?  It is so very frustrating.  Have you ever been in that situation?

Recently I read an article in the First for Women magazine, their November 16^th, 2009 issue,  entitled, “Always Craving Carbs?”.  This article has confirmed to me what I have discovered lately.

You see, I have a Metabolism problem, and have even been diagnosed with insulin resistance.  I have followed to the tee eating programs given to me by a nutritionist at my physician’s office.  No progress whatsoever.  I often feel that people are looking at me are thinking, “Yeah, right, she has got to be cheating on her program.”  Trust me I am not.  Lately, I discovered that carbohydrates are affecting me differently than they do other people.

This article deals with a book written by Diane Kress, R.D., titled, “The Metabolism Miracle”.  She goes into detail about the fact that everyone is not a Metabolism A person.  There are about 46% of us who fall into the alternative Metabolism B Category.  This means that our bodies will not respond to the same diet program that a Metabolism A person’s body does.  This is probably why the plan my nutritionist gave me did not work.

There are three steps to this program. I have just begun Step One which will last for eight weeks.  This will be a low carb period to rest my overworked pancreas and liver while shrinking fat cells.  During this period there should be a decrease in cholesterol (hurray), triglycerides (double hurray), blood sugar and blood pressure.

I am going to be devoted to this program for many reasons.  Mainly, I do not want to live my life with deteriorating health conditions, increased medications and possibly insulin.  Even as I write these words, it only confirms that this is a matter of life or death to me.  I am 63 years old and have a lot more years I want to spend with my family and to be able to watch my grandchildren grow up and start their lives.  I might be selfish, but I do not want to miss out on those times.  My family is very important to me.  It has been the glue that has held my life together.

Here are a few clues that you might have Metabolism B:

• Midline fat
• Diets that have worked in the past no longer produce results
• Decreased calories, increased physical activity but no weight loss
• Hypoglycemia
• Mother with pre-diabetes and a sister with gestational diabetes
• Craving for carbohydrates
• Fatigue and mild depression

Of course, before you embark on this or any diet program, check with your doctor.  At least get a full blood workup so you will be able to check you numbers and make a decision for yourself that this could be an answer to your weight problem.

I will be keeping you posted on my blog as to my progress.  I have not had success with my physician’s guidance, or lack thereof, in losing weight.  I do know that a lot of my symptoms are outlined in “The Metabolism Miracle” and I just cannot walk away from it without giving it a try.

I am also using Leslie Sansone’s, “Walk Away the Pounds Express” DVD which gives me a brisk two mile walk that amounts to thirty minutes of increased heart rate.

I am looking forward to welcoming 2010 on the road to better health.  I will also have been able to lose weight in 2009!  I am not going to be asking myself the same question this time next year, “Why did you not lose weight in 2010?” I hope that this has been helpful to you.  Please feel free to comment and if you choose to try this program, let me know how you are doing.  We can all encourage to one another.

As an online grandparent trying to succeed in internet marketing I am reaching the conclusion that it is time to follow my dreams!  Internet marketing is a highly infiltrated industry.  I have been diligently working various businesses for approximately 7 years now.  I am about to share how I am going to pursue what I have always wanted to do with my life.

By law, full-power television stations nationwide must begin broadcasting exclusively in a digital format by June 12, 2009. The U.S. Congress approved an extension of the deadline, which was originally set for February 17. 

I was thinking about this this other day and a few things crossed my mind. How many people are out there running around in a tizzy trying to make sure everything is in place for June 12th so they will not be without television? 

Are we sure that our “heart” reception is in place for when that last trumpet blows and we are called home? Far too few of us are giving as much thought to that as we do to our televisions.

Crazy Foxes Marketing Group

My son-in-law gave my daughter and his two children tickets to see Cirque du Soleil, Kooza for Christmas. He was extremely thoughtful and included me in this outing. Yesterday was the big day. It is really difficult to find words to describe how awesome we all found this production. Absolutely amazing!

It was by far the most entertaining event of this nature I have ever seen. Even before Kooza started there were clowns and people from the production entertaining the crowd.

It was wonderful to not only watch the talents of these entertainers but to watch the expressions on my grandchildren’s faces. We all sat in amazement.

The show lasted for approximately three hours with a 30 minute intermission. It seemed that we had no more than sat down and it was over. Now that is entertainment!!

In looking back on this exciting event you can’t help but think of the number of hours of training and practice these entertainers put into these acts. In addition, the precise placement of props and work of the production crew is phenomenal. Every aspect of this production worked perfectly. A very well oiled machine of people and materials all coming together to give those of us in attendance more than we could have ever hoped for, and believe me we were hoping for a lot. It is definitely difficult to find words to describe our feelings.

I was sitting here today thinking about those of us in the internet marketing business. There are so many “tools” out there to help us become successful. Just as the strong winds and heavy rains came racing through my area today, the following thoughts raced through my mind. I am always thinking of ways to become better at my internet marketing business. As I am a Grandparent in training when it comes to learning the many facets of internet marketing I want to pass these thoughts along to others that might be in the same position. 

When we reach retirement age we have come through many years of being the best we could be at what we were doing in the corporate workplace. I was laid off from a pharmaceutical company almost three years ago. Failed Clinical Trials do not give warnings to people who have worked in developing the product. I was a document control person/administrative assistance in the quality assurance department. My whole department was dismissed, as were the screening lab personnel, lab technicians, scientists and many others. I found myself sitting at home one day and thinking, “What do I do now?” 

I had had some previous experience with internet marketing and this seemed to be a good route to take. Having a home based internet marketing business I would have a flexible schedule and still be able to spend time with my family. I could still play with the grandkids. And lets face it, parts of our bodies tend to retire when we go into retirement! 

I continued working extremely hard at my online business. I finally realized this particular busines was not going to work. That is not to say that other people were not finding success, but on the whole there were a lot of us that decided this would not supplement our Social Security payments. This is one of the reasons I recently wrote a blog advising people to be certain to do their due diligence on the internet business they were contemplating.

So today as I was sitting working at my current, successful home based internet business the rain was coming down in sheets and the wind was beating it against the window.  Crazy Foxes Marketing Group

Here we are blessed with another year.  The question is are we truly going to end 2009 feeling that we have accomplished what we set out to do and have we been a blessing to others.  I have found that when I help others and put them first I find myself on the receiving end more times than not.

In looking back at 2008 my saddest recollections were that I had not taken the one or two moments out of my busy schedule to go have a “that lunch” with a dear friend, or pursue insisting that I be able to visit another dear friend in the hospital.  Both of those treasured friends are gone.  I do hope they know that I truly loved them. I no longer pass up an opportunity to let people in my life know that I love them.  Hold your family and friends close to your heart.

I am one of those people who set out with a determination to lose weight in the new year.  When December 31st arrives I usually find myself wondering what went wrong. The excess pounds are still lingering! I must admit, it was I who went wrong.  I didn’t set realistic goals and work the plan.  I am so very excited this year to be part of a group of individuals in the Crazy Foxes Marketing Group.  We are going to become the Crazy Foxes Biggest Losers! We will encourage each other and that makes a big difference.  We have established a blog sharing recipes, tools and tips. 

The Biggest Loser program on TV is a great inspiration to me.  The segment that just aired in January, 2009 especially hit me hard.  If a person is overweight and does nothing about it they will not only encounter painful health problems, live a lesser quality of life, be unable to enjoy activities with their family, but they also face the possibility of not living to be part of their family’s milestones.  A parent not at a wedding, or a grandparent missing the blessings of watching their grandchildren grow. That gives me new determination.

If the Crazy Foxes can encourage you, or help you in any way, please let me know.  This is the year that we can get healthy.  Remember it is not a “diet”.  It is a lifestyle change.  One of my favorite sayings this year is, “It isn’t what you do between Christmas and New Years, but what you do between New Years and Christmas.  That applies not only to your health but also your other goals.

With regard to your success in your business, what are your goals?  No goals set usually leads to nothing achieved.  You need to plan your work and work your plan.  As with weight loss, if you haven’t put in writing where you want to go and what you want to achieve this year, there is a good chance you will end up on December 31st thinking, “What have I actually accomplished this year.”  I have done that and for that reason I know how important it is to put your goals and plans into writing.  Post it where you see it every day.  As you accomplish your goals along the way it will serve as an encouragement.

In setting goals be realistic.  After you have decided what you are going to accomplish this year break those goals down into semi-annual and quarterly increments. Take that one step further and break those down into monthly and weekly goals.  This way it will not be so overwhelming to achieve.

There are so many dynamic social networking services out there.  It doesn’t matter if you are involved with internet marketing or the corporate work place.  I recently was introduced to Twitter. There is a plethora of tips, tools, relationships, and just downright great communication on Twitter.  It is awesome to feel the attitude of helpfulness amongst the members.  You will be able to expand your knowledge on many issues.  It is another tool on the internet that makes the world a much smaller place!  It is a good feeling too when you come across a person who is in need and reach out to help. 

So as 2009 proceeds I wish you much success, “Aha “moments of joy, heartwarming experiences with your family and friends, and the knowledge that you are truly loved by friends, family and God.  Be sure to share your love with others (even strangers that pass through your life).
